Love Letter Layout

I was recently looking through some of my old scrapbooking "stash" and came across a few "Class-in-a-bag" kits. So I decided to have a play with one.

I changed things around a little bit - I turned the layout sideways and then the photo mat sideways (as I wanted to use a landscape photo) - and this is what I came up with:

I followed the instructions for the envelope, then altered it, adding ink and alphabet stamps.

I distressed the edges of the papers using a tool and plenty of ink. I also pierced holes along the edges, threading floss through some to add stitching.

More stitching was added to the photo mat and I cut a triangle from patterned paper, placing it on the corner of the background card.
I cut individual letters from the pattrned paper and stuck them randomly over the background card.

I used a metal ribbon slider from my stash with strips of the card. I just love metal embellishments!

I enjoyed playing with this kit and will be trying more in the future.

Cricut Class

Hi Bloggers,

Now that my class is over I thought I'd show you the cards that I designed for the day.

The first card measures 8" x 8" and uses the standard cartridges that come with the Expression machine.

I used a number of the modes and functions of the Expression to make the card.

The Corpus Clock

Today I would like to share with you a layout that I made to include rubber stamping and texture.

I used a cog border stamp to stamp a "frame" around the edges of the grey background card, then added some mesh.
I stamped steampunk spiders and butterflies on the kraft background card in black ink.
Then I stamped extra spiders with black ink and embossed them with clear powder before cutting out to use as embellishments.

The "brick" mat behind the photo was made using an embossing folder. I applied ink to the folder before running it through my Bigshot. I just love how it turned out!
The edges were distressed and then inked before stamping the title and journaling - I wanted a graffiti look.

I cut various cogs and gears with my Cricut.
Some I embossed using several different embossing folders.

Some I heat embossed in gold before running through an embossing folder.

Some I covered with Tim Holtz Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint.

One I covered with clear embossing powder...

and one I covered with Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Powder.

The large clock was designed on my Gypsy and cut with my Cricut, with gold paint applied to the edges.

I distressed the edges of the background card layers and the "brick" mats to add some extra texture.

I had lots of fun creating this layout. Hope you like it too.

Teenage Rock Star

Hi Bloggers,

I have the original Cricut Paper Dolls cartridges, so when Cricut recently brought out the Paper Dolls Teen Scene cartridge, I knew I would love it.
The teenage boy with a guitar was screaming to be used, so I just had to make a layout.

Here's a close up of the teenager - super cool!

I used cotton for shoe laces and left them untied (as most teenagers do) - this idea came from Lesley, a good friend of mine.

The border strip was designed on my Gypsy using images from the Paper Lace cartridge.

I used Glossy Accents on the guitar to make it shiny like my son's.

I used a phrase from the Quarter Note cartridge for my title and embellished my layout with chipboard shapes, gems and ribbon. I also stamped a brick design on the background paper - as shown in the photo below.

Cropping Fun

Holey Flower card

I've been very busy over the last couple of weeks as I started a new job (very proud am I!!) and have also been working on a couple of projects for a later date.

Today I'd like to share a card that I made for a friend. it's adapted from a card I designed for one of my Gypsy classes.

The flower was designed on my Gypsy using an image from the Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge. I then added circles to the petals.
I used the same design but cut smaller for the "scrunched" flower, securing with a brad.

The leaves were also from the Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge and the letters from Mickey Font.
